Fred Boutet is originally from Bordeaux. Though he has had a passion for painting since his childhood, he began his professional life as a wine producer. He decided to become a painter only in 2000 and now divides his time between these two professions.
A self-taught painter, he initially turned towards abstract painting, which allowed him to satisfy a need for freedom through artistic creation. However, he gradually headed towards a more figurative style, and addressed the theme of marine, one of his favorite topics These boat paintings are almost certainly a tribute to his hometown and in memory of his father who was a sailor.
The artist also works on urban landscape, the ones in big cities where buildings, concrete and light interwine.
Fred Boutet does acrylic painting and uses a paint brush and palette knife. According to him, the use of colors helps him structure and organize his creations: these are combined together, creating a complicit atmosphere and portraying natural elements where power and calm oppose one another.
