Description
The horizon fragments under the action of the knife. Two white sails emerge from a dark sea, cleaving a sky with violet hues. The composition plays on a marked contrast between the luminosity of the canvases and the depth of the waters.
The acrylic work favors the material. The touches are direct. The movement is captured in the thickness of the paint, creating a tactile relief. The reflection of the boats dances on the surface, mixing flecks of ochre and deep blue.
The balance between calm and energy structures the space. The artist transforms a seascape into a chromatic exploration. The rigor of the line meets the freedom of the abstract gesture. The gaze travels between the precision of the masts and the atmospheric blur of the background.
This painting dates from 2019. It combines the technique of the brush and that of the knife to translate the force of natural elements. The square format reinforces the stability of this maritime scene.
Presentation
Fred Boutet is originally from Bordeaux. Though he has had a passion for painting since his childhood, he began his professional life as a wine producer. He decided to become a painter only in 2000 and now divides his time between these two professions.
A self-taught painter, he initially turned towards abstract painting, which allowed him to satisfy a need for freedom through artistic creation. However, he gradually headed towards a more figurative style, and addressed the theme of marine, one of his favorite topics These boat paintings are almost certainly a tribute to his hometown and in memory of his father who was a sailor.
The artist also works on urban landscape, the ones in big cities where buildings, concrete and light interwine.
Fred Boutet does acrylic painting and uses a paint brush and palette knife. According to him, the use of colors helps him structure and organize his creations: these are combined together, creating a complicit atmosphere and portraying natural elements where power and calm oppose one another.
