Biography

Born in 1954, Stéphane Bulan is a French painter.

Stéphane Bulan began working quite early, after his short but brilliant performance at school. He worked in journalism and as a caricaturist. It was only in 1975 that he completely dedicated himself to painting. At the end of 70's, he exhibited at Galerie Drouant.

Influenced by post-impressionists, his initial works are highlighted with this artistic current, with the use of an almost methodical chiaroscuro effect. Stéphane Bulan exhibited all around France and discovered the Mediterranean coast in 1990 and artist like Marisa Berenson and Jing-Ping-Mei. The latter inspire him and therefore Bulan's artistic style evolved. Stéphane Bulan therefore turned towards a brighter and a more purer version of painting.
