Biography
Jeremy Paul was born in Guadeloupe in 1983. He's a multidisciplinary artist, oscillating between the pictorial and installation practice. He studied at the Villa Arson and did his DNSEP (National diploma of Plastic Arts), he lives between the Caribbean and Europe.
His career began by going back to Guadeloupe (2009). He did an exhibition named "Herrella" with the General Council of Guadeloupe, displaying his pictorial world, the following year he presented a sound installation at Artchipel Guadeloupe scene National, which revealed the acoustic aspect of his work. After having materialized his first projects in Guadeloupe, he chose to come back to Europe. He worked on developing his pictorial technique even further, during 3 years in Leipzig and settled down in Paris.
Between pop art and surrealism, Jeremie Paul presents a world of "figures". These figures are depicted as an entity, a mark of territoriality and those who are affected through emotions. His idea is to combine these excuses (reason, initiators, the required), and push them to their limits. These limits are comprised of their apprehension for genre, concepts and feelings).
"To transport these works (paintings, sculptures, installations, costumes, videos...) towards boundless possibilities" (Édouard Glissant), like an opening towards world where myth and poetry are in action. The same actions like believing in one's own identity, ideas and dreams.
