Biography
Jakayu Biljabu was born in 1937 in the Western Australian Desert. She led a nomadic life there until the 1960s when she became a baker for the mission. In 1982, she moved to Punmu where she continues to live. It was not until 2006 that she began to hold exhibitions and joined the Martumili art center. Jakayu Biljabu grew up in the land of Manyjilyjarra and his paintings celebrate the sand dunes, clays and salt lakes of this desert landscape.
