Description
This intriguing work fuses pop art and nostalgia. A metal Elf two-stroke can serves as a canvas for a comic book character, characterized by a distinctive winged helmet. Vibrant with bright colors, the vibrant orange and pink background contrasts with the bold black illustrations. The character, in a dynamic and joyful pose, seems to burst from the surface. The slightly protruding paint stains evoke an urban modernity and a graffiti spirit. The inscription "Elf Deux Temps" recalls a bygone era, while the artistic addition gives new life to this vintage object. This juxtaposition of old and new, industrial and artistic, provokes reflection on cultural evolution and the interplay between heritage and innovation.
Presentation
Born in 1984, Anthony Grip (GRIPE) is from Seine Saint Denis. He started graffiti in the late 90s, first in the street, then on the RER tracks and the vacant lots of his neighborhood. GRIPE then continued to exercise his passion for graffiti by creating sets, storefronts, events, multiplying experiences while refining his technique with aerosol.
Influenced by the 80s/90s and pop culture, we find in his colorful work, many characters and references from his childhood, which he enjoys diverting to denounce certain excesses of our society. Self-taught and fascinated by graffiti as well as street art, he multiplies the techniques (aerosols, acrylic, stencil, collage) that he applies on different supports such as canvases, signage, metro maps, old objects ... GRIPE is a versatile artist who redoubles his creativity to better surprise and touch the public.
