    About the Artwork

In the Art For All piece, Philippe Huart presents a small format edition of three pills in painted metal. With the “red and white” edition of the “Side effects” series, his idea is to work on duotone and variations in space. These interlocked pills can be presented under different angles. Here the artworks gives itself the possibility to be viewed under multiple and plural dimensions, an aspect that corresponds exactly to the Art For All collection.

Whilst reading the subtitle “passionate love”, love in all its forms obviously comes to mind: passion and jealousy, happiness and madness, violence and life are crystallized in the deepness of red, counterbalancing it, the purity and clarity of white that absorbs and reflects, reinforces the esthetics of what has become and object of desire.

    About the Artist
Philippe Huart was born in 1953 in Clamart (France). After his studies at the School of Modern Arts of Paris, he becomes an illustrator and graphic designer for the literary and phonographic publishing company. In 1991, he decides to dedicate himself solely to painting. From then on he is regularly shown in solo and group exhibitions in France or abroad. He reflects on the effects that publicity, marketing and consumerism have on our subconscious. The basis of his painting comes from his concept of “objective reality”. For him the perception you have in front of a picture is mostly “visual”. It is linked to forms and patterns. Philippe Huart works are not replicates of objects of day to day life, but they are “signs”. Their significations are belittled because of the accumulation and frequency that we find them within our environment, so only the juxtaposition and overlapping of fragments, that have been expanded, allow us to perceive them under a new angle, both surprising and familiar.

Philippe Huart

Philippe Huart was born in 1953 in Clamart (France). He lives and works in Paris.

After studying at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Modernes in Paris, he became an illustrator and graphic designer for literary and phonographic editions until 1991, when he decided to dedicate himself exclusively to painting. He took part in numerous solo or collective exhibitions, both in France and abroad.

Philippe Huart seeks to neutralize the effect that advertising, marketing and consumption have on our unconscious. His painting is based on the objective reality that there is nothing other than what we see. The pictorial perception has nothing to do with the objects at first, but with forms and rhythms. "It is what motivates me when I frame the closest possible my images reduced to fragments." The pictorial work is precise enough and explicit in a world where the image has become an essential vector for communication. These images are the ones that trigger Philippe Huart?s expression process.

The artist does not address the elements of daily life, he addresses its signs. These signs are accumulated in our environment, whether they are domestic or public, to the point of no longer being perceived. Their accumulation and their frequency make them common, but the juxtaposition and mix of their enlarged fragments show them to us as if they were new to us, although familiar.

Through painting and sculpture practice and the choice of his subjects, Philippe Huart shows us the relationship that we have with objects that we populate our universe with. His painting is not that of an artist who would take a neutral position; it expresses the thoughts of the author on our world and its culture, which are common in our daily lives.
