Description
This captivating work features a beautifully detailed eye that appears to pierce a torn surface, revealing a striking contrast between the black and white of the iris and the vivid bursts of surrounding colors. The fragments are made up of layers of graffiti that the artist detaches from city walls and affixes to his artwork.
The wooden frame adds another dimension, framing the eye like a window to the soul. The shattered fragments, dyed in vibrant shades of purple, pink, and blue, form a fascinating contrast with the hyperrealistic eye, creating a dialogue between colorful chaos and intense observation.
This juxtaposition symbolizes the interaction between the inner gaze and the outer world, capturing the viewer's attention and stimulating deep reflection.
Presentation
Born in 1984, Anthony Grip (GRIPE) is from Seine Saint Denis. He started graffiti in the late 90s, first in the street, then on the RER tracks and the vacant lots of his neighborhood. GRIPE then continued to exercise his passion for graffiti by creating sets, storefronts, events, multiplying experiences while refining his technique with aerosol.Â
Influenced by the 80s/90s and pop culture, we find in his colorful work, many characters and references from his childhood, which he enjoys diverting to denounce certain excesses of our society. Self-taught and fascinated by graffiti as well as street art, he multiplies the techniques (aerosols, acrylic, stencil, collage) that he applies on different supports such as canvases, signage, metro maps, old objects ... GRIPE is a versatile artist who redoubles his creativity to better surprise and touch the public.
