Natacha Birds: on her limited edition print, exclusively for Artsper

Between botanical poetry and dreamy femininity, Natacha Birds unfolds a delicate universe populated by Flower-Women, which have become her signature. Every gesture in her chosen mediums, whether brush, clay, or enamel, is a quest for inner peace and a silent contemplation of the world. It is only natural, then, that Artsper should invite her for its annual limited-edition carte blanche.

Natacha Birds: on her limited edition print, exclusively for Artsper

1. For those who may not know you yet, how would you describe your universe and your work?

Natacha Birds: I am a painter and ceramist. My work explores silent emotions and the connections between the visible and the invisible, through feminine figures, light, flowers, and symbols of life.

I like to create pieces that feel like spaces of contemplation, where softness meets vulnerability.

My universe is deeply inspired by intimacy, spirituality, and the small things that move through us without always finding words to express them.

2. What inspires you? Where do you find your ideas?

Natacha Birds: I draw a lot from my own life: emotions, motherhood, memories, encounters, faith.

I like observing what seems ordinary and discovering something greater and more universal within it.

3. What was the inspiration behind this limited edition work?

Natacha Birds: This piece was born from a reflection on tears. We often associate them with sadness, yet they can also carry grace, relief, and transformation.

Here, tears become almost like precious pearls. They speak of what touches us deeply and what transforms us within.

The flowers, fragile and ephemeral, support this idea of beauty that can emerge even in moments of vulnerability.

4. What do you like about the limited edition format?

Natacha Birds: I like the idea that a work can continue its journey and live in multiple homes while still retaining a sense of rarity.

The limited edition makes art more accessible without losing the precious and intimate nature of the original creation.

It is a way of creating a bond between the work and several people who recognize something of themselves in it.

5. Can you tell us about your creative process for this piece, from the first ideas to the final result?

Natacha Birds: It usually starts with an emotion. I then gather images I paint from photos and self portraits colors and symbols that resonate with this idea.

For this work, I gradually built a very soft scene around pink skin tones and light. Flowers came quite naturally, then tears, which slowly became central.

I often work in layers, letting the painting guide me as much as the initial idea. Some works evolve a lot along the way until they find their balance.

Here for example the butterflies changed color more than ten times before finally becoming transparent, like silent prayers.

6. Is there any element or detail of the work that is especially important to you?

Natacha Birds: The tears, without hesitation. I wanted to paint them like jewelry or drops of light.

They are not meant to express suffering but rather what it sometimes produces: tenderness, compassion, the ability to be moved.

I also really love the translucent butterflies that appear subtly in the image. To me they evoke prayer, something fragile that nevertheless keeps moving toward the light.

7. What would you like people to remember from this work?

Natacha Birds: I would like it to remind people that vulnerability is not a weakness.

We live in a world that often values strength and control, yet there is immense beauty in emotions we allow ourselves to go through.

If this work can invite someone to look at their own fragility with more softness, then it will have achieved something important.

In the end it is about this: the quiet grace that can emerge from our tears. And to never forget to pray.
