"As a child I didn't draw animals, I drew dragons".

Claudio Santoro besides being a known skater is an artist. In the last few months Claudio has designed a lot, has created several graphics for the most famous national skate events, including those for the Red Bull Skate Week (these days in Milan); he collaborated with El Santo, the Turin-based skateboarding company, which commissioned him with three boards and left his mark at the Basard Store where Russ Pope, Mattia Turco and Mark McKee passed among others.

Often the skater, barely twenty-four, speaks in images, he tells me about the urgency of putting an idea on paper: "when the pencil is on fire, for a drawing you have been thinking about for some time, the drawing comes from itself". And apparently his drawings "come" with an impressive rhythm.

The son of a surf electronics "wizard of magic", Santoro had his first skate at age ten and began editing videos at twelve. His artist personality does not speak a single language; I saw his videos, unlike a lot of material that circulates on YouTube about skateboarding, his sequences, apparently simple video documents of successful tricks, tell stories; they have a script, characters; one of these "shorts" starts from the frame of a friend who plays the guitar, passes to another friend who with a grin makes the grind more slippery before Claudio passes over everything in a tight sequence.
