Deep soul 255, 2024

Laurence Verney

This striking artwork features the profile of a majestic woman, highlighted by bright, richly contrasted light. The artist chose a pure white background that intensifies the play of light and shadow on the figure’s face and neck. The masterful use of deep blue and black hues gives the work a complex, almost tactile texture, evoking the depth and richness of the human soul. The woman’s hairstyle is particularly noteworthy. It is carefully styled, projecting a timeless elegance that suggests both tradition and modernity. The addition of a delicate headband adorning her hair lends a note of understated elegance and accentuates her noble carriage. Another captivating element is the ear, subtly decorated with a golden curl, which adds a touch of refined sophistication, while guiding the viewer’s eye around the figure. The profile is executed with geometric precision, emphasizing the sculptural beauty of the features. Finally, the contrast between light and dark not only serves to highlight the contours of the face, but also creates an atmosphere of introspective depth. This work transcends the simple portrait to invite reflection on identity, femininity and cultural heritage.
