Dietlind Hortsmann-Köpper is a painter born in 1947 in northern Germany where she lives and works, in the countryside and in Hamburg. After solid art studies, she exhibits regularly in Germany, Poland, Italy and France.
Among Dietlind HK's favorite subjects are farm animals, in their beauty and dignity. Elemental strength and their presence participate in an expressive painting that reminds us of the freedom of origins and the often violent and dramatic life of these animals.
She works on the themes of violence, destruction, decline: deformed bodies of women, animal carcasses, difficult jobs are the expression of daily violence. Nude paintings emphasize the individuality of each woman and show their inner vulnerability. At the same time, with their perceptible sensuality the work contradicts the postulated and eternally young beauty of the models shown in the advertisements.
The painting, often in oil by Dietlind Hortsmann-Köpper, with its strong color range is solid and energetic. His production also includes a part of sculptures, engravings, drawings and watercolors.
She has also collaborated on several editions of books as an illustrator.
We are proud to show his work in our gallery in Chambéry for the January & February 2019 exhibition.
