Kōjirō Akagi 赤木 曠児郎 (1934-2021) was born in Okayama, Japan in 1934 and dies on February 15, 2021 in Okayama, where he staid for few days before his return to Paris, his hometown since 1963, in France. Man of a very deep French and Japanese Culture, he was as well a Master of "Free Hand" oil on painting, watercolors and a remarkable printmaker. 1956 Bachelor's degree in Physics, Okayama University, Japan. 1963 He obtains a scholarship and while Japan is impoverished by WWII he settles in Paris with his wife in order to study. They both will remain in Paris until their death. Diploma of Beaux-Arts, Paris with Professor Brianchon. In order to make a living, while he keeps painting nights and days, his wife is working for French High Fashion, while he works as French Correspondent for Japanese newspapers, and will become the specialist of French Culture and History. 

1970 1975 Paul Sonnenberg Art Gallery, Paris, shows his art and introduces him to French Institutions, he publishes some of his lithographs. 1971 Gold Medal Watercolors 1974 Gold Medal Paintings, Salon des Artistes Français. 1975 French Président Medal. He obtains a studio by the town of Paris and buys a flat in Paris XVe. After many years without a gallery after his rupture with Sonnenberg Gallery in 1975, he meets Lise Cormery. She will show permanently his art from 1988 until 2005 at her Galerie in Paris and writes for him biographical Art Critic, as well as her friend Pierre Granville, She travels around the world in 1990 in order to promote his art. They publish together his Catalogue Raisonné. Lise Cormery wrote the foreword to this book, as well as the texts in French and English created by Akagi in Japanese. Catalogue Raisonné 1. "Les Estampes (prints) de 1974 à 1999", published 2000. Le Catalogue Raisonné 2. "Les tableaux de Paris (Paris paintings) 1969 à 2004", Published November 2004.
