Presentation

Gustavo Cabarcas is a Colombian photographer based in Paris.

He discovered photography in 2001.

He graduated from a film school in Bogotá in 2006 and started working as a video editor. Photography remains a passion and it is from 2018 that he starts to edit his images and to devote more time to their visibility.

He makes series of reports, for example in Soacha, Colombia, where he visualises the aesthetics of chaos of a place devoid of the attention of the state but where there is still hope to live.

He also photographs landscapes throughout his travels and works in particular on street photography, where he seeks the presence of the street photography where he looks for the human presence that expresses itself spontaneously and where the where the spectator is part of the scene or sometimes he just experiences sensations...

In search of the daily moment and spontaneous scenes, he experiments with everything that allows him to express an idea and sometimes just images that have a concrete visual impact and where the solitary presence of characters in a large context sometimes evoke the Romantic movement where the states of the soul of the human being are exalted and also exalting the mysteries of thought and nature.

By experimenting with techniques such as collage, he recreates still life scenes, his ideas come from random encounters in everyday life and thus lets his imagination speak. Gustavo seeks above all the pleasure in the image.
