JERZY OSTROGÓRSKI (born in 1944)
Jerzy Ostrogórski is a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gda?sk. He paints and draws. He received his diploma in 1971 from the studio of prof. Stanis?aw Borysowski.
In the 1970s, Ostrogórski created the series of paintings-objects in which he replaced material concepts with words and expressions. In the 1980s the series titled “Notatnik ?cienny/ Wall Notebook” was painted. He is also known for his three series in which he used ready-made garments:
"Wieszaki/ Clothes Hangers”, "Szatnie/Cloakrooms" i "Garderoby/Dressing Rooms". At the end of the 1990s, Ostrogórski painted a series of paintings called “Perseveration”. In this series he used numerous –ready and invented- stamps and signs by which he created fictional codes and metaphors.
