Ima Montoya

Born in Bilbao, Ima Montoya has lived and worked in different cities around the world such as Madrid, London, Tokyo, Moscow, Budapest and Mexico City. These frequent trips have always been a stimulus for her to explore and assimilate new influences from different cultures. It is precisely the idea of movement and displacement, both physical and metaphorical, that centers her artistic research. It is a journey, a movement carried by our inner strength, which, like an engine, pushes us from the darkness towards the light; that very human need to regroup, to be together, to move forward and feel that we are not alone and that there is a horizon full of light. Her works are a choral union of different humanities in motion, but from this perspective, almost celestial, we realize that each individual is part of a whole, smoothing out the differences that divide us. Our decisions, our emotions, unite us and form a human tapestry woven by the experiences lived and the dreams that define us.
