Presentation
Derek Aylward is a self-taught painter born in 1976 in Boston, MA, USA. He creates bold compositions that teeter between folklore and pop cultural characters. Employing a signature raw style, Derek Aylward's paintings are meditations on community and togetherness. The artist's work frequently depicts mystical creatures that appear frozen in time alongside human figures dissipating into cubist backdrops. Aylward creates instantly classic compositions that combine humor and pop savvy with the bizarre and macabre.
