Sylvain Bureau is an artist, born in 1985 in Belgium. He does silkscreen painting, drawing and engraving.
He addresses existentialist themes, which question the relationship between the human being and his environment, the nature which is around him and its evolution. Technology and its impact on humanity is also addressed. According to the artist, it has an important role to play on our memory and our individuality.
In his comics and silkscreen paintings, he proceeds with an overabundance and bursts of information, with a chroma of colors. Reading the image is no longer accurate and we pick up those elements we come across, while it crosses our path.
For his engravings, one can feel the absence of the word and the image is enough in itself. Sylvain Bureau works on his creations for several weeks at a time, before presenting them, through extreme technique, precision and a variety of strokes. He excels not only in figuration but also due to the geometric rendering of his figures.
