Biography
Melanie de Jong is a fashion illustrator from Zwaag, the Netherlands. She studied fashion at the Artemis Academy in Amsterdam and graduated in 2011. What she prefers is to see her models appear on paper because she has the power to give them a sense of melancholy and drama. She prefers to draw and paint her illustrations by hand rather than digitally, simply because she thinks she can add more emotion with paint and pencils. Her preferred techniques are paint, ink, watercolor, pencils and paint markers. By showing the beauty of fashion, Melanie brings people into her world. She has illustrated for the fashion brand Backstage in Germany. In January 2019, she appeared on the FWO (Fashion week online) website with 5 of her illustrations and an article. In April 2020, she submitted an illustration for a Dundas illustration competition in collaboration with Fida World Online. She was selected among the last 12 candidates out of more than 700 submissions.
