Carlo Carrà, an illustrious Italian painter, left his mark on the art world with his innovative approach and distinctive style. Born in 1881 in Quargnento, Carrà played a key role in the development of futurism and metaphysics, movements that revolutionized the visual arts at the beginning of the 20th century. Carlo Carrà began his artistic journey at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan, where he studied under the direction of Cesare Tallone. His active participation in the futurist movement began after his meeting with Filippo Tommaso Marinetti and Umberto Boccioni. These interactions profoundly influenced his style, directing it towards a dynamic exploration of movement and abstract expression. His trip to Paris in 1911 also allowed him to become familiar with the work of Cézanne, who had a notable influence on his technique.
Carrà is best known for his role in the development of futurism, characterized by a fascination with speed, technology and youth. His futuristic work is distinguished by bright colors and dynamic shapes, aiming to capture the essence of movement and modernity. After World War I, he founded the metaphysical painting movement with Giorgio de Chirico, marked by silent cityscapes and enigmatic scenes that invite reflection.
