Biography

If the future of art is innovation, then American artist Avery Singer is at the forefront of a generation of young, experimental artists. Born in 1987 in New York, Singer's interest in art was born out of growing up in a creative community, where she experimented with photography, film and drawing. A multidisciplinary artist, during her studies at Cooper Union, New York, she experimented with carpentry, metal working and sculpture, before discovering SketchUp, a digital software allowing for greater experimentation.

Today, Singer's work is a true representation of mixed-media, as she uses new technologies and techniques, all whilst giving a slight nod to art history movements such as Modernism, Cubism and Futurism. This merge of new technologies and historical styles allows her to experiment with the idea of “creating art", how you can express yourself creatively, and ending up with a result that is uniquely “yours". Singer's work has been exhibited in Berlin, Cologne and at the 2019 Venice Biennale amongst others, and has secured her place as a key rising star on the contemporary art scene.
