Discover the previously unseen paintings and drawings of French artist Hélène Duclos in her new exhibition at Galerie Claire Corcia, "The Red Necklace of Naked Queens."
"My artistic research has expanded over the years, crossing paths already traveled and taking new directions.
The encounter between invented landscapes, human bodies, imaginary animals, unknown plants, and dreamlike places gives rise to painted or drawn works that can resonate with current events.
In this new series, the presence of a red necklace as a recurring object symbolizes the feminine cycle, which alternately brings pain and ecstasy, power and invisibility. Being a woman, in many places, remains a struggle. I wanted to give space to this intimate and universal part of me, which questions and moves me. The pearl necklaces embody both a secret bond between women and the weight of a consignment—between ornament and hindrance, between transmission and burden." »
