Description

Fleur d'Iris is part of the Spring in Paris series, a celebration of the city's elegant gardens and the quiet poetry of spring in bloom. Inspired by the graceful iris flower, the artwork captures a fleeting moment when nature awakens with color, light, and renewed vitality. Rather than illustrating a botanical scene with realism, the composition distills the essence of an iris garden into a contemporary and expressive visual language.

Delicate layers of texture and harmonious transitions of color evoke the soft movement of petals swaying in the breeze and the gentle rhythm of a garden illuminated by spring sunlight. The iris, long admired as a symbol of hope, wisdom, and creativity, becomes the central motif, representing both the resilience and the ephemeral beauty of nature.

The composition balances abstraction with recognizable floral forms, inviting viewers to engage emotionally rather than literally. Light and shadow interact across the textured surface, creating depth and a sense of quiet movement that changes throughout the day. The result is an artwork that feels both intimate and expansive, recalling peaceful walks through Parisian parks where architecture and nature exist in perfect harmony.

As part of the Spring in Paris series, Fleur d'Iris reflects the timeless elegance of one of the world's most celebrated cities while celebrating the universal language of flowers, offering a serene moment of renewal, beauty, and connection with the natural world through the quiet presence of the iris in full bloom.

BIOGRAPHY

Nataliia Krykun, is a Ukrainian Austrian ultra-contemporary multidisciplinary artist based in Vienna, Austria.

Her works capture the serene yet powerful spirit of nature through a distinctive fusion of abstract minimalism and impressionism. Krykun draws inspiration from Nature, boundless horizons, shifting light, and meditative rhythms of the ocean.

Krykun’s approach is deeply intuitive, allowing color and light to guide her process. By reducing visual elements to their essential lines and hues, she evokes a timeless sense of space and depth. Her work often resonates with viewers as both a personal sanctuary and a universal nature memory, transcending geography and speaking to the human longing for openness and freedom.

Her signature blue–turquoise artworks are an invitation into a world of quiet contemplation, where the horizon becomes a meeting point between reality and imagination. Working primarily in oil and acrylic on canvas, she distils vast impressions seascape and impressions landscape into pure forms, subtle textures, and layered tonal harmonies. Each painting is a study in stillness and movement — a balance between the expansive calm of minimalism and the emotive brushwork of impressionism.

Krykun has participated in numerous international exhibitions and art fairs worldwide, including VOLTA Basel, Paris Contemporary Art Fair, ArtVilnius, CONTEXT Art Fair during Art Basel Week Miami, Artexpo New York, Affordable Art Fair in London and The Other Art Fair (Saatchi Gallery), ARTMUC in Munich, and exhibitions in Austria’s Krems Museum within the historic Dominican Church. She continued her studies at the University of Arts Linz 2025-2026, Austria.

A significant milestone in her career was her participation in the Pavilion of Ukraine at the 58th La Biennale di Venezia, in the group project “The Shadow of a Dream Cast Upon Giardini della Biennale.”

Presentation

Nataliia Krykun, born in 1988, is a Ukrainian ultra-contemporary multidisciplinary artist based in Austria.

Working primarily with monochrome colors and gold leafing, she creates sculptural paintings and minimalist forms that explore depth, texture, and contrast. Her use of monochromatic surfaces, structured reliefs, and carefully chosen materials transforms simplicity into a powerful visual and tactile experience.

Her works are celebrated for conveying universal themes of humanity, identity, and cultural resilience.

Krykun's artwork invites contemplation and stillness, balancing elegance with raw materiality. Her refined aesthetic opens a quiet dialogue between shadow and light, surface and space.

Krykun has participated in numerous international exhibitions and art fairs worldwide. A highlight was the exhibition of her works at the VOLTA Basel and Art Basel Week in Miami, and she is a participant at the Pavilion of Ukraine at the 58th La Biennale di Venezia- “The Shadow of a Dream Cast Upon Giardini Della Biennale".

Her works have also been showcased at Art Fair Vilnius 2023 and in Austria's Krems Museum, within the historic Dominican Church.

She continues her education at the University of Arts Linz, Austria.
