Biography
Emmanuel Chikumbirke was born in a rural area of northern Zimbabwe to Priscinia and Weston Chikumbirike, two farmers who are now deceased. From a young age, he lived with his brothers Abraham, Thomas, and Gladmore, who were also sculptors.
In fact, the Chikumbirike clan is very numerous, the majority being sculptors. Most specialize in busts.
In 1993, after passing his matriculation examinations at the University of Zimbabwe, he graduated with a first-class honours degree in economics.
Since 1994, he has been both a professor of economics and mathematics and a part-time sculptor.
In 2001, he established his own workshop after learning from his brothers and focused on human busts.
In 1994, he married Loveness, a very kind and wonderful woman who is his strength and his partner. They have three sons, Takudzwa, Munashe, and Almaz.
His works are appreciated and sold in Australia, the United States, South Korea and many European countries.
