Biography

Barry Lungu (born 1980 in Zimbabwe) is a first-generation, post-independence fine artist who has painted professionally for over 25 years from his studio in Harare. Noted for his expressive, energetic style, he paints primarily in acrylics on canvas, occasionally using oils. His works are characterized by dynamic compositions and bold colour palettes that vividly portray township life, rural scenes, and everyday Zimbabwean culture—represented with both realism and an emotional depth that touches on resilience, community, and identitty.

Barry's art has appeared in exhibition tours such as "An African Story," displayed in venues including Dubai (2024), Chongqing (2024) Zurich (May 2025), Berlin (2025) and The Hamptons New York in 2025. 

Through his vibrant visual storytelling, Barry Lungu brings the pulse of Zimbabwe to life—each brushstroke and canvas image an invitation into the energy, richness, and heart of its people.
