Biography
Ron Smits earned his BFA at Camberwell School of Art and went on to show at the Serpentine and Acme galleries, in London. During his years in London, he received numerous grants from The Arts Council of Great Britain and Greater London Arts to produce and present his expanded cinema and video work.
Throughout these years, until emigrating to the United States, he was provided live/work space funded by The Arts Council of Great Britain.
Once in the United States, Ron shifted to a career in architectural lighting, earning several international design awards. He was also a freelance illustrator. Retiring in 2013, he returned to painting, to which he has happily devoted himself almost daily ever since.
