Mixed Media Artwork : Photography composition (2 photographs in one artwork) printed on Photoluster paper and mounted on Dibond 3mm. Part of the photography project 'BURNING FOR WATER' (2022) by Ellie Sass / Artistic Swimmer: Mandy Lambropoulou. Photography composition painted with acrylics. Abstract Artwork Black and White. // Two Artworks BLACK HOLE & SPLASH: "The two works belong to a larger visual art project 'Burning For Water' which started in 2021 and highlights the vital and urgent need of humanity in today's era for water - mainly due to global warming. By creating the two visual artworks 'Black Hole' and 'Splash', I wanted to 'narrate' through the idea of the VISIBLE and the INVISIBLE, how important it is to appreciate everything, without taking anything for granted. The dark female figure of the artistic swimmer appears in one photograph and in the second she disappears into the water - in two different ways in the two works respectively -, passing from the darkness of the first work to the light of the second work. The messy brushstrokes with a spatula convey a sense of extremity, of an absurdity and a struggle in a harsh black and white everyday life that demands that we take ideologically and socially absolute positions. Ellie Sass lives and works in Greece.
She focuses on portrait, theatre, street and nature photography and works on narrative and experimental photography. She creates black and white aesthetics in experimental photography, with harsh contrasts of shadows and light, and a tendency towards noir and abstract minimalism (photo expressionism).
Since 2022 her work in experimental photography has been recognized by many distinct international galleries.
As a visual artist Ellie Sass is interested in portraits and in hagiography and also in digital photo collages, in paintings and in mixed media artworks. She makes collages and mixed-media artworks on canvas or on dibond using supplies including acrylic, oil paint, carbon, pencil, markers and photographic paper.
Ellie Sass has participated in various photography and visual art exhibitions. She has distinguished herself in many competitions and her work has been exhibited in Europe.
Ellie Sass has been working on various projects at this moment. Her main axis is spirituality, experimental art and expressionism.
She has always felt that art and spirituality are connected. Her faith in Jesus Christ (Orthodoxy) gives her motivation to create artistically and to fulfil her purpose in life.
