Polish-born artist excels in delicate and refined body-focused paintings, with a focus on the female figure.
Biography
Born in Poland, where she studied Fine Art, artist Ewa Hauton arrived in France in 1990 and that same year won the 'Stars of Painting' award.
After working in advertising as an Artistic Director, she then moved on to painting and sculpture in the positions of graphic designer, visual artist and scenographer.
She now dedicates herself exclusively to painting, and has done for more than 10 years. This change of direction to painting as a profound expression of life was influenced by an encounter with a choreographer.
Her work primarily focuses on the body, in particular the female figure, and varies between ink and oil painting. Always delicate and refined, she is an expert in eliminating superfluous form and material.
When working in ink, her palette is limited to black and white, only on occasion adding touches of colour to suggest a hint of life.
As for her large format works, she plays with mediums, often combining paint and pencil.
Her reflection on personal experience, questioning nature, and perpetual research play important roles in her creative process.
