Biography

Lacquering is an artistic technique that involves applying several coats of colour, then sanding them to reveal the underlying shades.

This method, which follows precise stages (covering, lacquering, sanding, etc.), can be customised with everyday tools to achieve unique depth effects.

Oil-based varnishes are favoured for their suppleness and soft texture. The pigments allow great freedom in the choice of shades, offering a high degree of customisation.

The themes vary, from exploration of the human body to representations of African animals, to motifs inspired by skulls and carapaces.

The technique evolves with the addition of metallic powders and materials such as eggshells, reminiscent of the Asian lacquer tradition. This practice demands a great deal of patience, as the long drying time means that you have to work on several works at once.
