Biography

Delphine Diallo is the central figure of her exhibition. The artist reveals himself as much in his self-portraits as in the portraits of his mother or of strangers. Whether naked or behind a mask, visible or invisible, Delphine creates her own symbols and forges her feminine epic. Every day she becomes a new woman, she is metamorphosed to be reborn always a little stronger. She offers the women she photographs the possibility of becoming mythical heroines. There is naivety in his work, that of believing in the power of images and their ability to bring people together. From this naivety is born an intense beauty. The beauty of proud looks, bodies in action and maternal benevolence. By presenting for this Arles exhibition at the same time her collages, her still lifes, her street and studio portraits, she offers to see vibrant destinies of energy.
