Founded in 1985 by Jean-Francois Roudillon, the LOFT Gallery, situated in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Pres, has always been committed to the discovery of young contemporary artists from all backgrounds, to the motivation of their work and the promotion their work.

Since its inception it has defended the most important artists of their generation, such as the Argentine artist Fernando Canovas or the artists of Narrative Figuration: Erro (since 1985), Klasen or Monory Rancillac and Fromanger.

It also participates in the promotion of contemporary artistic movements, such as that of Street Art and graffiti was presented for the first time in the gallery, the works of Blek Le Rat, Baugeste Jerome Mesnager or Kriki.

During nearly the last 10 years, the LOFT Gallery has also become "the" European gallery of reference in the field of Chinese contemporary art presenting in 1999 a monographic exhibition preview of its main protagonists such Liu Xiaodong (2001/2005), Liu Wei (2001/2002/2005), Wang Guangyi (2004), Sui Jianguo (2000), Yang Shaobin (2001 ), Wang Qingsong (2002) and Zhan Wang (2000).

In Paris in 2002, Jean-Francois Roudillon also directed the project "Paris-Peking" in the Pierre Cardin Space, the first large scale exhibition in France of contemporary Chinese artists.

The LOFT gallery is also particularly active on the international scene. It organises many exhibitions and loans works of foreign artists, to institutions and foundations (Hong Kong, Macau Oriented Fundation, FAAP Brazil, Portugal) and regularly participates as a guest at large events dedicated to contemporary Chinese art (the Biennale of Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou...).
