Works on paper

Ibadan From September 7, 2025 to October 7, 2025

Presentation

*Works on Paper* presents a compelling group exhibition featuring four artists whose practices converge on the intimate and versatile medium of paper. Through charcoal, pastel, and watercolor, each artist explores the surface as both a ground for experimentation and a stage for deeply personal expression.

Charcoal brings intensity and immediacy, capturing raw emotion and sculptural depth in mark-making. Pastel, with its softness and vibrancy, evokes delicate transitions between color and form, while watercolor introduces fluidity, transparency, and unpredictability — echoing the layered nature of thought and memory.
Together, the works reveal the diversity of approaches possible within a single medium. Some pieces lean toward gesture and spontaneity, others toward atmosphere and quiet reflection. What unites them is the intimacy of process: the artist’s hand, movement, and decision-making remain visible, unmediated, and alive.

*Works on Paper* invites viewers to experience a dialogue across different practices, highlighting paper’s unique capacity to hold fragility and strength, immediacy and permanence.
