Oscillations brings together three painters exploring the dynamics of line and movement. Yann L’OUTSIDER, Alex KUZNETSOV, and Nina DE ANGELIS each, in their own way, question the trace left by the gesture and the relationship between control and accident.
Through spray paint, rulers, and brushes, they translate the tensions of rhythms and flows where the line oscillates between mastery and letting go.
In his large abstract compositions, Yann L’OUTSIDER plays with the sensitivity of the line and the layering of textures. He creates compositions where the gesture oscillates between brutality and delicacy, responding to the constraint of speed imposed by spray paint, while embracing the unexpected in its mixture with acrylic. His work highlights the tension between a calligraphic language and an instinctive gestural freedom. Black and white confront and harmonize in a constant search for balance between positive and negative space. The oscillation here lies between technical mastery of the tool and the spontaneity of the gesture.
In the Ressort series, Alex Kuznetsov uses rules to create an instrument of both constraint and flexibility. His gesture, at once methodical and instinctive, creates curved lines where geometric rigor confronts the accidents of the material. The compositions, in black, white, and chrome, reveal a vibrant density through their successive layers. The control of the line is constantly tested by the pressure and fluidity of the ink. Each stroke is born from a fragile balance between restraint and release, offering a series that oscillates between calculation and unpredictability.
Nina De Angelis, for her part, works with the brush as an extension of her own body, seeking fluidity and freedom of movement. The stroke is no longer a simple line, but a living imprint, a trace of an invisible calligraphy. Through abstraction, she creates a sensation of rhythm and dance, where each form becomes a fragment of vibrant nature. India ink, chosen for its purity and responsiveness, extends the brushstroke and imbues the painting with a sense of immediacy. The oscillation in her work lies in the delicate balance between the stillness of form and the perpetual motion she seeks to capture—an inner dance where control of gesture and freedom converge. Her approach engages the viewer in a sensory and immersive experience, where painting becomes a dialogue between body, matter, and time.
With Oscillations, Yann L’OUTSIDER, Alex KUZNETSOV, and Nina DE ANGELIS invite us to explore the different textures of the painterly gesture through three unique processes. Between tension and fluidity, structure and layering, their works plunge us into a realm where the gesture is never static, but always in transformation.
