“Resonance is deep, existential awareness. Taking a step back to see what resonates within us, what connects us to the world.” Hartmut Rosa
A dissonant cohesion exists between these two artists, a concordance of their universes while allowing their personal styles to assert themselves. Preserving ephemeral writing, distinct in the work of RENZO and Olivier SWIZ, and the desire to sublimate it, subverting urban space to bring aesthetics and reflection, unites them. Asemic, their writings do not need to be language for us to connect with the other, to find our place here, in this exhibition presenting the works of RENZO and Olivier SWIZ.
VIBRATIONS, these movements of mechanical oscillation are measured around a stable equilibrium. Appropriation, as the cornerstone of their artistic reflections, creates this space where the constant ambient acceleration seems to be suspended in orbit. This balance takes shape through the proposals of RENZO and Olivier SWIZ.
Complementarity creates unity in RENZO's work. For its powerful graphic aspect, its aesthetic, and its political resistance, the artist draws inspiration for his geometric compositions from public spaces. A contrast in interpretation, where the rigor of form reveals a singular typography. By encrypting his writing, RENZO leads us to question our ability to reconstruct received information. His concise, indecipherable inscriptions, adapting to surfaces, defy the static gaze.
For Olivier SWIZ, the intervention of VIBRATIONS emerges from this confrontation between control and chaos. Imposing constraints and rules of construction upon himself, from its conception to the chosen supports, his technique is akin to that of collage. Faced with the silence of abandoned spaces, Olivier SWIZ leaves his mark. His personal alphabet evokes a deconstructed architectural plan, where harmony is found in experimentation. Immersive, her work questions the boundaries of our spaces, both internal and shared.
The black and white, with their chromatic nuances tending towards gray, recall the essence of graffiti, a theme shared by both artists. In this heightened restriction, the aesthetics of space, its resonant arrangement, become a necessity. Perhaps this is where VIBRATIONS reside, where geometric abstractions meet boustrophedon-like writing.
