Marc Figueras is originally from Barcelona where he studied (Llotja School, mural painting section), his apprenticeship (with J. Bonet, great master glassmaker), where he worked (restoration of the stained glass windows of the Sagrada Familia) and where he lives and practices his art today. Marc Figueras is a humble and discreet artist, touching and tender, respectful of others and endowed with a remarkable talent for bringing to life silhouettes captured in Barcelona. A member of the famous Catalan hyper-realism school, he is one of the most prestigious representatives of the works he creates, all recognizable by these anonymous young women in front of buildings in the Catalan Art Nouveau style immortalized by Antoni Gaudi. . It is with the lens of his camera that he begins his work, leaving at the time of the day when the light is the most beautiful, in the city that he knows like the back of his hand, chasing the graceful attitude and the elegant silhouette of anonymous young women. The photos, once imaged, become the model; but, in any case, the image is not retro-projected to be duplicated and then colored: he realizes a real work of designer in which he excels and which makes his talent, that of an artist experienced with the youth of spirit of his thirty years; after which, the layers of oil color are applied, starting with a first white layer to mark the braiding of the canvas, then those of colors. Like the old masters, or more recently his genius, Balthus. It is then that he manages to give back, in a hallucinatory way, the life to the materials to the point that one would believe them posed on the canvas, here, the leather of a bag or the plastic with its monogram, there, the texture of the pants or the filly of a hair, all this more real than life.
