The Atelier Piece Unique gallery brings together five artists around the same material, paper. These artists do not use paper as a medium, but as a raw material, exploiting all its resources to create original and inventive universes. Wabé discovered papier mache at the age of eleven. His passion for this technique has not weakened since. The artist creates a fantastic and colorful world, half animal, half human, both cheerful and tormented. His sculptures with rounded shapes invite to caress. Their voracious mouths and large eyes make you smile or shudder. Cécile Morin-Verdier's approach is situated between painting and sculpture. The accumulation of a multitude of layers of paper forms a support that the artist peels, hollows out, pierces, pumice in order to reveal the buried layers. The textures catch the light, evoking a mineral or plant surface, a distant landscape or, on the contrary, a disproportionately enlarged detail. Carole b. cut shapes out of colored paper and patiently assemble them to create abundant and joyful works. If we approach a few centimeters of his achievements, we discover reliefs, sometimes words, engraved patterns that light reveals or attenuates. His paintings can be observed from near and far, at different times of the day. With poetry and humor, the works of Chrystèle Saint-Amaux combine recycled paper, tracing paper, cutouts, clean line drawing. Following the formula of Marc Chagall, the artist colors life with colors of love and hope. Valérie Auriel mixes oil and cut-outs painted by her, to create imaginary landscapes, between lush jungles and gardens of Eden. Color is its guideline to lead the viewer into a dreamlike, marvelous and malicious universe.
