Description

The automobile becomes a formal subject of study here. The gaze focuses on the front of a red race car, capturing the essence of classic sports design. The composition plays with tight angles. It emphasizes the purity of the curves and the brilliance of the lacquered bodies.

The contrast is marked by the black circle bearing the number eight. This graphic detail anchors the scene in the history of car competitions. The technical rendering relies on rigorous precision. Every reflection on the headlight glass and the chrome of the finishes is reproduced with care.

The gleam of the yellow auxiliary light brings a vivid chromatic touch. This shade breaks the dominance of the intense red. The light glides over the metallic surfaces to create a tangible volume. The whole exudes an impression of still speed.

The treatment of the surfaces evokes mechanical perfection. The shade of red saturates the visual space. The cropped framing invites the imagination to envision the complete silhouette of the vehicle. This work is available in limited editions. The final detail is nestled in the reflection of the sky on the windshield.

Presentation

Mauricio

I was born in Cali, Colombia, in 1967. As a child, I drew race cars with wide tires, fog lights, and vibrant colors in my school notebooks. I studied graphic design because I discovered that expressing my visual creativity was a rewarding professional path. I worked as a graphic designer for more than twenty-five years in my native country, managing a wide variety of visual projects for companies from my design studio. Later, I founded my own car magazine, and then I dedicated myself to university teaching. Upon arriving in Germany, I decided to give a new direction to my creativity and dedicate myself fully to painting, an activity I have practiced successfully, participating in many exhibitions and events in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

In my car paintings, I explore colors, shapes, and reflections; my main themes are road and race cars. I perceive them as highly aesthetic objects.

I also paint everyday objects, such as toys or sweets, in photorealistic and vibrant compositions. My works offer a striking vision of the irony of contemporary obsession with consumption and the idolization of popular culture.
