Biography

Mauricio

I was born in Cali, Colombia, in 1967. As a child, I drew race cars with wide tires, fog lights, and vibrant colors in my school notebooks. I studied graphic design because I discovered that expressing my visual creativity was a rewarding professional path. I worked as a graphic designer for more than twenty-five years in my native country, managing a wide variety of visual projects for companies from my design studio. Later, I founded my own car magazine, and then I dedicated myself to university teaching. Upon arriving in Germany, I decided to give a new direction to my creativity and dedicate myself fully to painting, an activity I have practiced successfully, participating in many exhibitions and events in Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, and Luxembourg.

In my car paintings, I explore colors, shapes, and reflections; my main themes are road and race cars. I perceive them as highly aesthetic objects.

I also paint everyday objects, such as toys or sweets, in photorealistic and vibrant compositions. My works offer a striking vision of the irony of contemporary obsession with consumption and the idolization of popular culture.
