Biography

Gor Abrahamyan's artistic journey began in early childhood, when he instinctively started drawing animals and, as he fondly recalls, “something like a human being." His natural talent was quickly recognized—by the age of six, he had already attracted the attention of local media.

Following his secondary education, Abrahamyan continued his artistic path at the Terlemezyan Art College, where he received his first formal training. What began as simple childhood sketches evolved into a powerful visual language that now spans expressive figurative work, surreal compositions, and spiritually inspired themes.

Throughout his career, Abrahamyan has created a diverse body of work—including liturgical paintings for Armenian and Russian churches, large-scale studio canvases inspired by Armenian mythology, and commissioned portraits. He has also experimented with book illustration, expanding his artistic voice into new mediums.

Often associated with surrealism, his paintings explore poetic and symbolic worlds born from the artist's inner vision. Abrahamyan describes painting as an instinctive act rather than a deliberate process—something that comes from “deep in his blood," as essential to him as breathing. He believes that each artwork already exists long before its physical creation—he simply becomes the mechanism through which it materializes.

Gor Abrahamyan has exhibited widely in Armenia, including at NPAK (The Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art), Hay Art Center, and the Narekatsi Art Center in Yerevan. His international exhibitions include shows in New York, Beirut, and Mexico, gaining recognition from collectors around the world.

Deeply connected to his homeland, Abrahamyan proudly identifies as a “pure Easterner"—an artist shaped by the spiritual, cultural, and mythological heritage of Armenia.
