Biography

Ashot Avagyan is an Armenian painter born in 1996 in Warsaw, Poland. From an early age, he was drawn to the world of visual art, beginning his journey with a brush long before most artists find their footing — a head start that would shape the distinctive creative identity he carries today.

Ashot works in a technique entirely his own, which he calls Contour Style — a personal visual language built around line, form, and the expressive power of contour. Rather than following established movements or mimicking familiar traditions, he has chosen to forge his own path, developing a signature approach that sets his work apart in the contemporary art landscape.

At the heart of his practice is a deep and genuine wonder for the world around him. Nature, light, the human figure, and the quiet details of everyday life all serve as sources of inspiration — filtered through his unique contour-driven lens and transformed into something unmistakably his own.

Though born in Poland, Ashot carries his Armenian identity as a defining thread through his life and work. He represents a generation of Armenian artists whose roots and creative voices transcend borders, bringing the richness of Armenian artistic heritage into dialogue with a broader international conversation.
