Presentation

Mieke Jonker (b.1963) started her creative career as a goldsmith (Vakschool Schoonhoven 1999-2003). After graduating Academy of Fine Arts, Arendonk in Belgium in portrait and modeling in 2013, she entirely focused on painting. She has been inspired by the great Dutch painter Rembrandt, especially because of his beautiful compositions, colors, and above all his signature. Her paintings in oil, are built up in several transparent layers.

By using harmonious colors, strong composition, and her own signature, she tries to achieve a moving serene atmosphere in a painting. One of her artworks was nominated for the Alphons Winter prize. The painting was on display at the "Province House" in Maastricht (2013).

At "Art Eindhoven" Klokgebouw Eindhoven, she was one of the highest-rated artists. One of her artworks was nominated for "The Painting of the Year 2015 of the Netherlands" The painting Because of the dog XI, is on display with another finalist at the CODA Museum in Apeldoorn.
