Born in 1951, lives and works in Bruges, Belgium. Takes part in numerous group or individual exhibitions. Works in private collections in Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, The graphic arts gave Retsin the bases necessary for the practice of several techniques which will serve him from 1980 to embark on the making of posters advertising, design, graphics and advertising for fashion companies. Thus bringing together traditional painting and pictorial and technical research, he began towards the end of the 80s to devote himself solely to the development of his artistic perspectives. In 1992 began his artistic career in its own right. In his paintings the great density of images, targets, numbers, letters, drawing his mixtures of images from the media, making collages from comics, magazine clippings, advertising images, he forms the elements of his style. While continuing in this direction, his pictorial and technical research is developing. It is acrylic by its flexibility, collages by their decorative element that won his first favors. Also, he intends to redefine his artistic individualism. From 1998, he also produced paintings from posters, photographic models of movie stars, pinups. Its themes are among others media culture, cinema advertising, with an emphasis on the ever increasing influence of Americanism and its popular culture. His paintings are more insistent, more displayed, simulating errors. Gradually his technique will be that of "double painting". Once the canvas is finished, he will scrape it until he allows to achieve precise effects of composition and retouching, thus obtaining the result eroded, crumbled, which he will call the "distressed"
