People are perfume bottles with a specific scent, unique and different from others.
Arne Quinze is a Belgian artist, born on 15th December 1971 in Belgium, he lives and works in Laethem-Saint-Martin, a Flemish region.
His artistic production began during the 80's with graffiti and then devoted himself to sculpture, drawing and created large scale installations without officially having finished his studies in art.
He is mostly known for his large wooden constructions, which he builds on public streets and he is mostly famous for the cremation of his Uchronia sculpture, at the Burning Man festival in Nevada, in 2006.
He is motivated by the idea of an ideal society, where individuals communicate and interact, he desires to bring people together and trigger energetic dialogue.
In order to realize his sculptures, he uses a large variety of wood, especially wild wood, at times metal, bronze and bright colored glass but also fluorescent paint. He works on the themes of social interaction like communication and urbanity, his main objective is to provoke reaction and surprise the passer-by, as his sculptures are an unconventional part of their mundane life.
His public installations question the perception of urban centers and city centers in Belgium (Cityscape, The Sequence), Germany (The Traveler), France (Camille, Rock Strangers), Lebanon (The Visitor), China (Red Beacon, Chaos Wind ), U.S.A (Uchronia, Timegate) and Brazil (Matarazzo).
