After living in several large cities such as London and Paris, the artist, of Belgian parents, finally settled in Brussels. Born in Congo, she grew up and studied in Kinshasa. And it is all this dynamism, all this strength of African expressiveness, the dazzling light of an equatorial sun, that we find in her way of painting! Frank and vivid colors, brutal and daring contrasts between cold and warm colors, in combination with the apparent white of the background of the canvas and a black more black than black ... This is precisely the color that characterizes Chanterax's expressive power, giving her works a unique, almost suspended appearance, an expression of the artist's most intimate feelings and passions. The artist knows her classics, of course: a reference to Pop-Art goes without saying. It is undeniable that she testifies to a more current artistic vision: a way of seeing that is in no way realistic, but clearly influenced by digital design. The compositions are developed according to rules that are, so to speak, academic: among other things, they are judiciously balanced… An original and brilliant artist, not only for her pictorial qualities, but also for the purity of the feeling of art which guides her work.
