Presentation

Olga García is a versatile Bolivian plastic artist who graduated from the “Raul G. Prada" Fine Arts School. She has exhibited her works widely in Bolivia and Ecuador since 2003. She has received multiple awards and recognitions. While watercolor is her favorite medium, she feels at ease working with oil, acrylic, and drawing mediums. She has also explored mixed media approaches using tar, watercolor, and traditional drawing mediums, mainly graphite and charcoal, together. Her textile works have also received awards in Bolivia, a testament of her versatility in handling multiple mediums.

Her works are mostly figurative and deal with diverse themes, ranging from traditional Bolivian landscapes to more contemporary landscapes with dense impastos and contrasting tones. In another ongoing series of paintings, she has explored femininity in Bolivian society, not from a traditional or anthropological perspective, but rather through an exploration of innocence and sensuality through the depiction of Bolivian girls and women in rural and domestic settings. In yet another completely different series, she takes a botanical art approach to depict plants endemic to the Andes.
