Raimundo de Oliveira

Raimundo de Oliveira is a Brazilian painter, writer and designer born in 1930. His mother passed on to him her passion for drawing and painting since an early age. Encouraged by his teachers, he left to Salvador in 1947 where he studied at the School of Fine Arts.

Raimundo de Oliveira explores mainly religious subjects. Raised in a religious family, he depicts the moral codes and principles dictated by the holy books in his canvases.
In 1966, he published several books before suiciding.

In 1982, the Cultural Foundation of the State of Bahia inaugurated a gallery with his name, in Salvador.
