Denitsa Mihaylova

Bulgaria

Art is a dance between reality and imagination

Biography

Denitsa Mihaylova is an artist from Sofia, Bulgaria, whose creative journey began in her childhood with a fascination for the world of art.
Denitsa graduated with a Master’s degree in Applied Art from the National Art Academy of Sofia in 2004.  After her graduation she continued to develop her skills in various fields, including interior and product design. At present, she is dedicated exclusively to painting, which remains the central focus of her artistic career.

In addition to her work as a painter, Denitsa has pursued interests in Art Therapy and Creative Photography, earning postgraduate qualifications in these fields.

Denitsa’s artistic portfolio includes a range of solo exhibitions and collaborative projects both in Bulgaria and internationally.

In 2024, Denitsa was honored with several Awards, including the International Prize Leonardo da Vinci, special edition Gold, a prestigious accolade recognizing exceptional artistic and stylistic research. This award celebrates her contributions to contemporary art, selected by esteemed curators Salvatore and Francesco Saverio Russo.

Denitsa Mihaylova is also a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists, reflecting her ongoing commitment to the art community.

"A painter with an extreme sensibility to the colors, Denitsa Mihaylova is exploring in her paintings fragments from nature and the world that surrounds us. The bizarre and sometimes invisible to the man elements become the main object of her work, refracted through the prism of her personal perceptions. They embody a deep and inner world that stays out of people's sight. That is why with her art Denitsa tries to reveal it to them with all its beauty and charm.

With an impressionistic approach and pointillistic strokes, she builds her images on the canvas, filled with flickering light and reflections. And it takes us to the depths of the sea, or on the fine hairs of a feather that has accidentally fallen from a bird, under the spray of a waterfall or on the beach, where the play of lights and shadows on the waves becomes a boundless source of inspiration."
