Biography
Born in 1955, Zhou Chunya is a Chinese painter. He studied painting at the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts and at Kassel Academy in Germany.
Initially influenced by German expressionism and Western modernism, Chunya's works are a unique blend of traditional Chinese ink painting techniques with Western elements.
Chunya's paintings draw inspiration from his childhood in rural Chinese landscapes. He is most widely known for his Green Dog series, featuring a green dog within vivid landscapes.
Solo exhibitions of Chunya's work have taken place in China, Norway, Indonesia and Italy. In 2009, Zhou established the Fund of Five Colors - an organization which helps support handicapped people through art education.
