Presentation

Born in 1942 in Odense, Kjeld Ulrich was a student of Kaj Kylborg at the Funen Art Academy from 1968 to 1976.
Ulrich's primary medium is acrylic on canvas, but an early introduction to drypoint had a major influence on his play with painting and graphics, and characterizes his expressionist and symbolic artistic language.
Using mixed media such as collage, acrylic and oil, Ulrich creates expressive abstract montages featuring recurring motifs of the female form, flowers and text. The spirit of the artist and his unique visual landscape lies in his use of minimalist strokes and a combination of monochrome or sparse color palettes.
Ulrich lived and worked in the Corbières, in the South of France, in the 1990s, then, returning to Denmark, he devoted himself to ceramics and decorated large vases, some of which are exhibited at the Lilleskov Teglværk museum in Tommerup.
