Markku Juhani Rantala (1950-2007) was a Finnish painter and teacher, born in Helsinki Finland. Rantala taught painting at the Free School of Art in 1983-1993.

His artworks are abstract, symmetrical and he used to work with acrylic and oil paint. His art is more than a painting, it's a way of communicating with the viewer. Rantalas's works exist in numerous collections : the Finnish government's collection, at the Helsinki city art museum, at Kiasma and in different cities around Finland. His works can also be found in various art collections in Norway and Russia.
